One of my favorite movies of 2013 was the film HER. It is a science-fiction romantic drama written, directed, and produced by Spike Jonze. The film follows Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix), a man who develops a relationship with Samantha (Scarlett Johansson), an artificially intelligent virtual assistant personified through a female voice.
The intent of this poster design was to represent the protagonist of the film as he struggles with loneliness and sense of connection as he searches for a partner. It is then in an artificial intelligence assistant that he finds what he is looking for. This relationship brings up a lot of existential questions and doubts in the main character as the connection grows.
The design was inspired for the love this film's commentary on society's relationship with technology and the potential strange future that we may have in store.
