iRobot Owner's Guide

With the launch of iRobot's new line of Roomba robots I designed the new packaging and all the materials within it, including the owner's guide. For the owner's guide I designed the layout, flow of information, and the full creation of illustrations. My goal for this owner's guide was to have the user easily find and figure out what they are looking for, from normal feature operations to troubleshooting. To achieve this goal there were two really important things to solve. 1. Laying out the information in a really clear and readable manner. 2. Develop illustrations that support and add to the copy content. After seeing all the content that needed to be within the guide I worked out a 3 column template for the layout. For the illustrations, I decided to use a line art and flat shading style with hands to show scale and specific placement / action. Another important aspect that factored into the illustrations was working out what part of the process to show given the amount of space, flow of information, and complexity of each step.
